The sea is also called the Sea of Arabah in Deuteronomy 4:49, Joshua 3:16, and 2 Kings 14:25. Further, the prophets, Ezekiel and Zachariah refer to the sea as the Eastern Sea (Ezekiel 47:18 and Zachariah 14:8). Biblically, the Salt Sea was used as a boundary marker.
